United Airlines has launched a new year-round, daily service from Kaohsiung, offering customers convenient one-stop connections to the United States. With this launch, United becomes the only U.S. airline currently serving Kaohsiung.
To mark the occasion, a gate celebration was held in July 2025 at Kaohsiung International Airport to celebrate the inaugural flight between Kaohsiung and Tokyo Narita. The event was attended by Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-Mai, Kao Min-Lin, Commissioner of the Kaohsiung City Government’s Tourism Bureau, and Neil Gibson, Kaohsiung Branch Chief of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT).
United welcomed customers aboard the first flight of this new route, which will operate daily throughout the year. A similar gate celebration was also held at Tokyo Narita International Airport to greet arriving customers on the inbound flight.
“We are excited to launch this new route connecting Kaohsiung and Tokyo. It is a great day at United when a new direct service launches to provide more travel options for our customers,” said Marcel Fuchs, Managing Director, International Sales, United Airlines. “This new service is great for tourism, bringing Japanese travellers direct to Kaohsiung and also provides customers from Kaohsiung with a one-stop connection to the United States.”
